NADA relies on the Dried Blood Spot method

11.07.2025

The National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany) relies on the so-called Dried Blood Spot (DBS) method for doping tests at major sporting events in order to test athletes across the board.

For logistical reasons, the DBS method has proven to be a profitable addition to traditional testing methods, particularly at sporting events with large fields of participants. More athletes can be tested thanks to the simple and faster procedure compared to classic tests.

A major DBS campaign has already taken place at various marathon events, such as in Bonn and Hanover. NADA Germany has also organised another campaign at DATEV Challenge Roth, where a wider range of athletes were tested.

The tests are one of several measures that NADA Germany implements at major sporting events such as Roth. In addition to educational measures before the start of the event, NADA Germany was on site with its live tool to educate the athletes and answer questions.
