The National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany) has published the so-called TUE Navigator on its website. The digital tool helps athletes and their families to check whether a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) is required for medical treatment in the event of illness.
The TUE Navigator is aimed in particular at athletes, their carers and treating physicians. The aim of the tool is to create more clarity in dealing with medically necessary but potentially prohibited substances and methods by means of simple and structured queries.
For certain diseases, a TUE can be applied for the use of prohibited substances and methods. This exemption authorisation makes it possible to prove the medically justified use during a doping test and to document that there is no performance-enhancing intention.
The TUE Navigator is accessible via the NADA Germany website and will soon also be integrated into the NADA2go mobile app.
