Canoeing: Decision in Martin Hiller case

25.05.2025

The National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany) has banned the German canoeist Martin Hiller for four years for two abnormal test results. These are violations of Article 2.1 (Presence of a prohibited substance) and Article 2.2 (Use or attempted use of a prohibited substance or prohibited method) of the Anti-Doping Regulations of the German Canoe Association (DKV-ADB) in accordance with Article 10.2.1.1 and 10.8.1 DKV-ADB. According to Art. 10.10 DKV-ADB, all medals, points and prizes in the period from 17.10.2024 (anti-doping rule violation) to 04.12.2024 (provisional suspension) will be forfeited.

Three anabolic substances were detected in two samples: Metandienone and methasterone in the first sample and ostarine (substance classes 1.1 and 1.2 of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List) in the second sample. NADA Germany filed charges in both cases on suspicion of an anti-doping rule violation.

The period of ineligibility began on February 10, 2025 (acceptance of the period of ineligibility) in accordance with Article 10.13 DKV-ADB and ends at the end of December 3, 2028 (24:00 hours) in accordance with Article 10.13.2 DKV-ADB, taking into account the provisional suspension imposed on December 4, 2024.
