The focus of this year's digital journalist workshop was integrity in German sport. The condition and foundation for competitive sport is that it is subject to the principles of fairness, equal opportunities and mutual respect. This context highlights the meaning of preserving integrity in sport. It is of considerable relevance for athletes and competitive sport itself. Therefore, the National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA) discussed the topic with Sylvia Schenk (Transparency International Germany e.V.), Maximilian Klein (Athleten Deutschland e.V.), Dr. Stephan Netzle (lawyer, former world-class rower) and Dr. Lars Mortsiefer (NADA board member).
NADA organised digital stations on current anti-doping topics and concluded the workshop with a discussion round.
Stefan Trinks, head of the NADA testing programme, provided insight regarding the pre-Olympic testing programme and explained the standard execution of Dried Blood Spot sampling as a supplement to classic doping tests.
The revised World Anti-Doping Code and the National Anti-Doping Code of Germany (NADC21) have been in force since January 2021. Dr. Lars Mortsiefer, NADA board member and chief legal department, explained the most important changes to the revised regulations and changes to results management and disciplinary proceedings in the event of possible violations of anti-doping regulations.
On October 1, 2021, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List for the coming year was published. Dr. Anja Scheiff, head of the NADA medicine department, explained the most important changes to the WADA Prohibited List for 2022 with a special focus to the revised substance class S9. glucocorticoids.
Lisa Kniebeler, employee in the NADA Prevention department, concluded the brief information impulses from NADA with an insight into NADA's new digital education tools.
