Activities by NADA Germany in preparation for the Paralympic Games in Beijing

02.03.2022

Despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Paralympic testing programme of the National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany) in preparation for the Paralympic Games in Beijing (China) went according to plan. NADA has conducted 39 tests [41 samples: 39 urine and 2 blood samples] on the 24 German participants nominated for the Paralympic Games and the designated guides out-of-competition and in-competition since August 2021.

In addition, 23 samples of the Paralympic participants were transferred to long-term storage and can be analysed again until 2031/2032. The commissioning of special analyses and the systematic evaluation of the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) in accordance with the specifications of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) were also part of the comprehensive preparation by NADA Germany.

As part of the entire pre-Paralympic testing programme, 49 tests [51 samples: 49 urine and 2 blood samples] have been carried out by NADA Germany on all potential Paralympic candidates since August 2021.

In accordance with the general nomination principles of the National Paralympic Committee Germany, the nomination to the Games is also preceded by the completion of NADA Germany’s e-learning course. This measure within the framework of NADA’s prevention programme GEMEINSAM GEGEN DOPING (TOGETHER AGAINST DOPING) serves to inform and educate the participants in important anti-doping issues.
