NADA Germany exchanges ideas with PEERS group

04.10.2024

The US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) invited the Penrose Education Experts and Resource Sharing - Group (PEERS) to Colorado Springs on 2 and 3 October for an international exchange.

In addition to the National Anti Doping Agency Germany (NADA Germany), experts from various countries met to discuss doping education. The working group consists of education experts from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Great Britain, Japan, New Zealand, Austria and Switzerland. The NADOs of these countries are among the world's leading organisations in the field of doping prevention and were joined at the meeting for the first time by a representative of the Caribbean Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (RADO).

The meeting focussed on value-based education work with athletes. A team of researchers from the University of North Carolina was present as a guest contributor to complement the practical examples with social science research content.

The core target group of athletes is always at the centre of any education measures. The aim here is to establish initial contact with athletes through education programmes before the first doping test.

The PEERS group is made up of doping prevention experts from various countries. The group meets every year to discuss important education topics in person.
