The World Anti-Doping Code (WADC) is currently being updated and the revised version is due to come into force on 1 January 2027. As part of the revision process, the National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany) has submitted its comments as well as suggestions for amendments and improvements to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). NADA Germany is contributing its extensive practical experience to this technical coordination process.
NADA Germany's comments on the draft WADC as part of the third and final consultation phase contain suggestions for revision with the aim of further improving the harmonisation, implementation and comprehensibility of the regulations. In particular, NADA Germany has commented on points where it believes there is still a need for clarification or additions - for example in terms of terminology, procedures or the practical application of sanctions.
Important points of NADA Germany's proposed amendments are the protection of minors, data protection, the flexibility and proportionality of sanctions and the consideration of national legal provisions in the context of the independence of national anti-doping organisations.
The WADC is the international and cross-sport anti-doping regulation. It safeguards the right of athletes to participate in doping-free sport, protects fairness and equal opportunities in sporting competition and serves to harmonise anti-doping rules worldwide.
