NADA Anti-Doping Day - Exchange with Anti-Doping Representatives and Top Athletes

07.09.2023

For the first time ever, top athletes took part in the joint exchange between the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA Germany) and the anti-doping representatives of the top national sports associations on September 7, 2023. The focus of the NADA Anti-Doping Day, which was held in the Science Center in Bonn after a long time, was on current anti-doping topics and networking between NADA Germany, sports federations and athletes.

In the morning, NADA's specialist departments presented to the anti-doping officers, among other things, the main changes to the Prohibited List, important information on athletes' reporting obligations, the new research initiative on doping criminal law, and interesting facts about the ADAMS modules recently implemented by WADA.

In the afternoon, top athletes also participated in the workshop. Léa Krüger (Athlet Germany e.V.) discussed with Solveig Konrad (National Paralympic Committee) and Michael Behr (NADA Germany, Education) the role of anti-doping officers from different perspectives. During the subsequent workshops on the topic Case of Illness and the Dried Blood Spot method, things got practical. All participants had the opportunity to try a Dried Blood Spot test. Finally, Jorge Leyva, Managing Director of the Institute for National Anti Doping Organizations (iNADO), gave an insight into international anti-doping work. The informative day was rounded off with an open house for all participants and the NADA Germany staff at the NADA Germany office.
