For the seventh time, the National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany) in cooperation with the Federal Institute for Sport Science (BISp) invited representatives of the national sports federations, state sports federations and associations, regional associations, large clubs and other institutions related to doping prevention. The venue was the German Sport & Olympia Museum in Cologne for the first time. The development of a strong and active network to protect young athletes from doping was the focus of the two-day event of TOGETHER AGAINST DOPING (GEMEINSAM GEGEN DOPING) on 25 and 26 April 2023.
During lectures and discussion rounds, the approximately 85 participants received current impulses from the field of doping prevention. They also exchanged views in workshops on goals and concrete measures in the context of this important topic.
Prof Dr Marcel Reinold (UiT The Arctic University of Norway) introduced the first day with a keynote speech on "Techniques of deceptive communication: How do doping athletes communicate about doping?” The topic was then discussed in greater depth.
The second day began with three lectures from NADA Germany's Departments, which informed the participants about current topics of medicine, law and the testing programme. The external speaker Inga Bensieck (Der Kinderschutzbund LV Hamburg e.V.) gave an insight into the topic "Prevention in the field of children and youth - successful communication practices". This contribution was also accompanied by an exciting round of discussion and questions. In a total of six concluding workshops, network members presented practical examples from their own prevention work, which provided an impulse for the prevention work of all network members.
The network approach enables members to benefit from the experiences of other network partners, to initiate joint projects and to actively shape the development of TOGETHER AGAINST DOPING. The aim is to win over persons and institutions of the sports structures in Germany for doping prevention, to gather know-how, to bundle activities and to create opportunities for exchange.
