Doping prevention: 6th TOGETHER AGAINST DOPING network event in Cologne

For the sixth time, the National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany) in cooperation with the Federal Institute for Sports Science (BISp) invited representatives of national sports federations, state sports federations and associations, state sports associations, large clubs and other institutions related to doping prevention to the RheinEnergieSTADION in Cologne. The development of a strong network to protect young athletes from doping was the focus of the two-dayTOGETHER AGAINST DOPING network event on 6 and 7 September 2022.

During lectures and discussion rounds, the approximately 65 participants received up-to-date information from the field of doping prevention. They also exchanged views in workshops on goals and concrete measures for doping prevention.

Cordula Lasner-Tietze (Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, formerly Deutscher Kinderschutzbund e.V.) introduced the first day with a keynote speech on "Environment in prevention work - insights and transfer from child protection". The topic was then explored in greater depth in panels.  Dr. Nico Herold (CURACON GmbH) addressed "Whistleblowing - a moral dilemma" and discussed the important protection of whistleblowers in depth during the panel discussion with Dr. Lars Mortsiefer, board member and chief legal advisor of NADA Germany.

On the second day, various workshops led by NADA Germany staff on the topic of athlete participation in doping prevention with Athleten Deutschland e.V. and BISp stimulated a joint exchange between the participants. In the concluding workshop, network members presented practical examples that provided an impetus for prevention work.

The network approach to doping prevention gives members the opportunity to benefit from the experiences of other participants, to initiate joint projects and to help shape the development of TOGETHER AGAINST DOPING. The aim is to win over persons and institutions of the sports structures in Germany for doping prevention, to gather know-how, to bundle activities and to create opportunities for exchange through a variety of offers.
