Doping Education: 8th TOGETHER AGAINST DOPING network event in Cologne

02.02.2024

For the eighth time, the National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany), in cooperation with the Federal Institute for Sports Science (BISp), invited representatives from national sports federations, state sports federations and associations, regional associations, large clubs and other institutions to the TOGETHER AGAINST DOPING network event. Around 80 participants attended the event at the Sport and Olympic Museum in Cologne on February 1 and 2, 2024.

Dr. Lisa Hasenbein, head of the specialist group at the German Youth Institute (DJI) in Munich, spoke on the first day of the event on the topic of "Growing up today: a look into the lives of young people". The participants then used the presentation to work out the potential and challenges for the target groups present. Finally, NADA Germany's Education Department reported on innovations and current topics in doping prevention.

The second day of the network event began with three keynote speeches from NADA Germany's medicine, legal and testing programme departments. Afterwards, practical examples from the participants offered a profitable insight into the concrete implementation of doping prevention measures in the TOGETHER AGAINST DOPING network.

Lea Würzinger, Project Coordinator Addiction Prevention NRW at the ginko Foundation for Prevention, gave a presentation on "Young people and substances - methods of non-judgemental and motivating communication", which provided impetus for a concluding discussion round.

Between the presentations and discussion rounds, the two-day event left plenty of room for networking and exchange between the participants.

NADA Germany's TOGETHER AGAINST DOPING network stands for the active co-design of doping education in Germany. It recruits people and institutions from the sports structures in Germany for doping prevention, imparts know-how, bundles activities and creates opportunities for exchange. Targeted education work supports young athletes and protects them from doping in sport.
