"Die heutige Entscheidung des Internationalen Sportgerichtshofs CAS in der Causa Russland schafft zwar Klarheit und Rechtssicherheit bezüglich der Non-Compliance der RUSADA“, sagte Dr. Andrea Gotzmann, Vorstandsvorsitzende der Nationalen Anti Doping Agentur Deutschland (NADA): „Allerdings erstaunt das Sanktionsmaß von zwei Jahren. Der langjährige Betrug an den sauberen Athletinnen und Athleten und der gesamten Sportwelt ist inakzeptabel und hätte aus unserer Sicht die größtmöglichen Konsequenzen haben müssen.“
„Die Verantwortlichen im russischen Sport hatten ausreichend Gelegenheit, Fehlverhalten einzugestehen und im Sinne des sauberen Sports zu korrigieren. Diese Chancen wurden nicht wahrgenommen“, führte Gotzmann fort: „Die gesamte Anti-Doping-Arbeit hat durch die Vorgänge in Russland in den letzten Jahren enorm an Vertrauen verloren. Wichtig ist daher, dass die heutige Entscheidung auf allen Ebenen im russischen Sport akzeptiert wird und endlich ein Umdenken beginnt.“

NADA statement on the CAS decision
"Today's decision by the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the Russia case provides clarity and legal certainty regarding RUSADA's non-compliance," said Dr. Andrea Gotzmann, Chairperson of the Executive Board of the National Anti Doping Agency of Germany (NADA): "However, the sanction of two years is astonishing. The long-standing deception of clean athletes and the entire sporting world is unacceptable and, in our view, should have had the greatest possible consequences."
"Those responsible in Russian sport had ample opportunity to admit wrongdoing and correct it in the interests of clean sport. These opportunities were not taken," Gotzmann continued: "The entire anti-doping work has lost an enormous amount of trust in recent years due to the events in Russia. It is therefore important that today's decision is accepted at all levels in Russian sport and that a rethink finally begins."
